How Many Cloth Diapers Do I Need?

I hate to make huge generalizations and think that everyone ends up with a combination of cloth diapers that works for their specific situation. Each cloth diapering family that I have ever met does something different. My only recommendation is that whatever you decide on that you make sure you have enough for 2 ½ days—because nobody wants to be washing diapers every day.

Here is what we use for Ethan:

• 24 unbleached Indian prefolds.
• 4 one-size cloth diaper covers
• 12 one-size pocket diapers
• 2 wool covers for overnight. (optional)
• 24 doublers or microfiber towels. (More if your child is a heavy wetter)
• 1 diaper pail
• 2 to 3 dozen cloth diaper wipes.
